HIDDEN COSTS STILL COST YOU…
AND AREN’T COST-EFFECTIVE!

CCA-220 Audiometer PLUS PACKAGEYou’ve all heard the adage: “Don’t compare apples with oranges.” We’d like to amend that saying with a cautionary statement of our own: Don’t compare our “orange/apple” combination to an “orange” that needs to be hooked up to an “apple” in order to operate.

More specifically, don’t discount the CCA-220 Plus audiometer on account of the sticker price, because our instrument seamlessly integrates the processing power of a computer without the added complexity or cost. It may at first appear to be more expensive then the competition. But when you consider that the competition’s audiometer requires the assistance of a computer, Benson Medical Instruments' audiometer is actually less expensive.

The chart below compares features, dramatically demonstrating the comprehensive testing and processing power of the CCA-220 Plus audiometer. We’re comparing our integrated “apple/orange” to their “apple” cable-connected to an “orange.”

Our integrated approach seamlessly combines an audiometer with a computer’s processing power for easy testing, superior data manipulation, and simple Hearing Conservation report generation. But don’t take our word on this—in the final analysis, only you can be the judge. To make your own decision about which audiometer is the better value, use the graph below.

MANAGEMENT REPORTS FOR
MULTIPLE COMPANIES—FROM A TO Z!

Whether you’re a hospital or a community-based health care program, an HMO/PPO, or an occupational health clinic, you need the ability to deal with multiple companies and reports. The seamlessly integrated processing power of the CCA-220 Plus audiometer lets your audiologist or nurse easily produce reports for an unlimited number of companies. No other audiometer allows you to do this. And this multiple-company reporting feature is extremely important if you’re marketing Hearing Conservation testing to different companies.

In addition, the largest selection of standard reports is just a button click away. Each report is available with fully incorporated demographic and exposure data. These Hearing Conservation reports include:

  • Subject Notification Letter—prints a full-size letter for subject notification of the STS and medical referral results of the current test in your choice of 12 standard languages.
  • Company OSHA STS List—catalogs subjects whose current test shows an OSHA STS.
  • Company OSHA Recordable Shift List—names subjects whose current test shows an OSHA recordable shift.
  • Company Test Schedule List—flags subjects with no test in a range of dates, or since a given date.
  • Subject Averages and Impairments—shows all tests with averages, including PBI and STS calculations for the current test.
  • Subject Test—displays current test with averages.
  • Subject Test STS—displays current and baseline tests with averages and STS calculations.
  • Subject Summary—tabulates all tests with STS analysis; provides averages and graphical audiogram for the current test.
  • Company Medical Referral List—lists all subjects with a medical referral as defined by AAO-HNS 1996.
  • Company Exception List—names all subjects with missing or invalid data to ensure report validity.
  • Company Summary—calculates and graphs the number and percentage of subjects with hearing loss, as well as those whose current test shows an OSHA STS or recordable shift.
  • Company Roster—lists all demographic and test data for each subject.
  • All Company List—contains all company addresses and options.

LARGEST-FORMAT
REPORTS AVAILABLE

We’ve taken the time and applied the expertise to create features that really matter. Are your Hearing Conservation operators tired of squinting at and storing narrow strips of thermal paper? Even if the strips are extra wide, a three-inch width can’t compete—in terms of legibility and filing ease—with a full-page report (8-1/2" x 11") that uses standard paper! Now your audiologists or nurses can easily print out full-page Hearing Conservation reports and notification letters in 12 different languages.

WE GIVE NEW MEANING
TO THE WORD “EASY”

Sometimes a simplistic approach is just that—“simple.” But simple isn’t necessarily better. For example, an “easy touch” system is based on the technology of an ATM machine. Just stick your card in, enter your user ID number, and then use the easy prompts to push-button your way to a cash advance, deposit, or whatever. It’s simple and quick. There’s only one problem with designing an audiometer with this technology in mind—it’s extremely time-consuming to enter a subject’s name, subject’s data, and/or demographic information using “easy-touch” technology.

Pushing buttons can be a limitation. Can you imagine your audiologist or nurse using an ATM machine to input the necessary test data? It could be done, if you were hard-pressed, but would it be worth the time? The bottom line is this: An “easy-touch” system only works well for data input if the audiometer is first hooked up to a computer.

By contrast, the CCA-220 Plus seamlessly integrates a full keyboard with its audiometer to create the ultimate input device. So don’t let the promise of “one easy touch” convince you to purchase audiometric equipment that limits your audiologist’s or nurse’s ability to easily input needed information. Remember, a “simplistic” design doesn’t always mean simple to use.

EASY-INPUT INTEGRATED
FOR SUPERIOR EASE OF USE

Historically, audiometers and the computers that store their data have been separate pieces of equipment. This always means a higher price tag and greater complexity, which makes the audiometer and its requisite computer more expensive and more difficult to operate. But the CCA-220 Plus Industrial Audiometer is designed to deliver everything you need, seamlessly integrated into one audiometer. This means your audiologist or nurse is able to do all testing, store all data, and output all reports from one easy-to-use device.

Does this sound too good to be true? It might, if you’re dealing with a traditional audiometer company. Yes, our competitors still believe that an audiometer should be separated from a computer’s processing power by messy cords and archaic software programs. But that old-fashioned, substandard configuration doesn’t really make sense. You’ll see why when you look at everything the CCA-220 Plus audiometer offers:

  • Unlimited number of companies
  • Superb ease of use
  • Easy, fast data input
  • Simple data manipulation
  • Unlimited storage
  • Complete full-page Hearing Conservation reports and notification letters
  • Multiple languages (12 standard, 32 custom)
  • Simple floppy backup

Again, the CCA-220 Plus audiometer doesn’t need a computer hookup for easy data input, because it already has a built-in keyboard. But Benson Medical Instruments didn’t stop there. We’ve also seamlessly integrated the processing power of a computer to automatically produce the notification letters and Hearing Conservation reports that your clinic needs for OSHA compliance.

Better yet, our system is self-contained, so your audiometer operators never have to worry about compatibility issues and other “glitches” that plague lesser, computer-dependent audiometers. We’ve designed our system to deliver the best of both worlds—unparalleled ease of operation married to superior processing power—and we think you’ll agree—there isn’t any audiometric system more “soundly” designed than ours.

SEAMLESS INTEGRATION
MEANS “ONE-BUTTON” OPERATION

When your clinic delivers Hearing Conservation testing, your audiologists or nurses need to be “on the money,” every time. There isn’t room for error. And, as any audiologist or nurse can tell you, it’s not practical to go back on location, or request that a subject come back to your clinic for a retest.

To address your clinic’s need to cost-effectively and easily administer the required hearing tests, Benson Medical Instruments’ CCA-220 Plus audiometer seamlessly integrates every function—with built-in safeguards.

SIMPLE TO TEST: One push of the start button begins the test. The seamless integration of the CCA-220 Plus audiometer does all the rest. It automatically instructs, even switching to the correct language of the subject if s/he has previously been tested; chooses the best test starting level with the OptiLevel™ feature; scans for problem thresholds, automatically retesting or flagging problems for operator semi-manual retest (where appropriate); saves the test data; and prints out the language-appropriate notification letter to be handed out to each subject before s/he leaves your clinic.

While the test is taking place, your clinic’s audiologist or nurse will be prompted to enter the subject’s information (e.g., Social Security number)—or, if the subject has been tested before, to easily select the appropriate facts from the database. This multitasking feature includes any combination of functions—your operators can add new information, edit data, and/or print reports—all while the Hearing Conservation test is progressing!

DON’T BE STOPPED DEAD…
IN YOUR TRACKS!

Harsh words, you might think, but pretty accurate. For instance, has your audiologist or nurse ever been stopped in the middle of testing because s/he suddenly ran out of storage space? If your clinic has an audiometer that can store only 2,000 tests, this scenario could easily happen. Then the only solution is to strip-print the audiometric tests and file them. Unfortunately, these test results can’t be backed up on disk, and they can no longer be archived in one easy-to-access electronic location. This could become a problem, even a legal concern, if the hard-copy tests are lost or damaged.

But the CCA-220 Plus audiometer has unlimited storage space for audiometric tests and reports so your operator will never run out of space. And simple floppy backup makes it easy to keep an up-to-date electronic record of everything. As an integral member of a clinic management team, you’ll never be at risk if important Hearing Conservation compliance records are misplaced or destroyed—they will always be in one place and will always be protected!

EVERY PREFERRED LANGUAGE—
UNDER THE SUN!

Translates into a greater competitive advantage.

Now your clinic can make the claim: “We can test anyone in the language of their choice.” This competitive advantage will take your Hearing Conservation testing service out of the “commodity pricing” arena and into the “unique-service pricing” stratosphere.

DELIVER EVERY LANGUAGE—UNDER THE SUN! Now you can tell your clients that you can conduct Hearing Conservation tests in any language! Benson Medical Instruments offers a multilingual voice application featuring 12 standard languages, including: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Hmong, Bosnian, Somali, French, Cambodian, Russian, Hindi, Tibetan, and German. (Click to hear sample instructions.)

And you don’t have to delete any of the 12 installed languages in order to add more! Adding more languages couldn’t be easier. Simply use any PC that has Windows Sound Recorder, and follow the straightforward instructions with a person fluent in the chosen language. Upon completion, just transfer the new language instructions over to the CCA-220 Plus audiometer. Now, at your fingertips, you have another way to dramatically differentiate your health-care clinic from the competition.

EASILY ADDING ADDITIONAL LANGUAGES* is truly a competitive advantage because testing in someone’s native language dramatically increases consistency and reduces administration time. Now your audiologists or nurses needn't gesticulate and gesture to show someone how to correct an error. The CCA-220 Plus audiometer is designed to automatically detect the nature of an error and to then send the language-specific verbal correction.

Given current nationwide immigration patterns, the need for new languages is increasing exponentially. So, within the next decade, it is likely that many new languages will be added to the standard roster.

*Note: Additional factory languages (20 more) will be routinely installed by Benson Medical Instruments in future models, as nationwide demographic trends dictate.

EASY FLOPPY DISK BACKUP
           TO SAFEGUARD YOUR
                  HEARING
CONSERVATION DATA

The CCA-220 Plus is the only audiometer that is designed to easily back up important Hearing Conservation compliance data. No other currently manufactured audiometer can do this. Instead you must first purchase an expensive software program to orchestrate this crucial step.

Additionally, the CCA-220 Plus audiometer is designed to create a backup perfectly compatible with your clinic PCs. We’ve taken all of the guesswork out of this extremely important function. Now your audiologist or nurse can back up their data daily, and rest easy knowing that important Hearing Conservation compliance documentation is always protected…and always available—electronically!

THE MOST USER-FRIENDLY
SYSTEM IMAGINABLE!

EASY TO OPERATE: The CCA-220 Plus consolidates all audiometer control operations on one bright, full-color display screen that's much larger than the screen on any other audiometer. (View screen comparison.) This easy-to-read screen simultaneously displays—(View screen):

  • Thresholds
  • Current stimulus
  • On-screen audiograms and graphs
  • Real-time STS calculations
  • Baseline data on-screen (so the operator can check new audiograms against historical audiograms)

SIMPLE TO CUSTOMIZE: The notification letter, automatically available in one of 12 standard languages, can be easily customized.

EASY TO USE: The bright, full-color display (View screen) features icons that use visual symbols. Now your audiologist or nurse can easily complete every major test function by simply pointing and clicking. Menus give each operator the opportunity to complete more complex tasks simply by scrolling down to the selected function, choosing it, and then following the prompts for easy task completion.

SIMPLE TO ENTER DATA: The full-size keyboard allows your operator to quickly and comfortably input all subject data and anything else of importance, including patient-specific notes.

EASY DATA MANIPULATION: Built-in storage keeps all subject demographics and audiograms for convenient data recall and reporting. More important, the CCA-220 Plus Industrial Audiometer stores an unlimited number of subjects and tests. Benson Medical Instruments is the only provider to offer this feature.

INNOVATIVE INTELLITESTING™
GUARANTEES BUILT-IN SAFEGUARDS

The innovative IntelliTesting™ feature understands Hearing Conservation testing. It scans audiograms for test problems, and responds with appropriate solutions. This built-in software also:

  • Scans during testing and automatically flags problem responses, or conducts a retest
  • Delivers language-specific test and error instructions through the headsets (12 standard languages to choose from)
  • Alerts audiologist or nurse if there is an attempt to manipulate test results
  • Allows for a semi-automatic manual mode—your audiologist or nurse no longer needs to track all responses because the audiometer automatically records the patient’s responses to ensure that the Modified Hughson-Westlake procedure is used to determine the threshold.

MARK FOR RETEST: If your audiologist or nurse thinks a threshold is wrong, s/he can simply click on one or more thresholds and the “Mark for Retest” feature will automatically retest them. This reduces manual audiometric testing, which can be difficult and time-consuming.

AUTOMATIC TEST AND ERROR INSTRUCTIONS: Not every subject understands how to take a hearing test, and instructions can be difficult to communicate if your clinic audiologist or nurse isn’t fluent in the patient’s language. Needless frustration can result, sometimes on both sides.

The CCA-220 Plus audiometer automatically addresses this issue with appropriate test and error instructions delivered to the patient through the headset in one of 12 languages (more can be easily added). Automatic language-specific instructions help clarify the test procedure and the IntelliTesting™ features quickly clear up suspect thresholds.

AUTOMATIC COMPLIANCE
         DOCUMENTATION
FOR YOUR
                 HEARING CONSERVATION PROGRAM

At Benson Medical Instruments we focus on what really matters. A built-in Prohibit Feature automatically reminds the clinic audiologist or nurse to conduct the OSHA-mandated Daily Calibration. Of course, s/he can turn off this feature, but it’s a great way to make sure that this important calibration has been done.

An Annual Calibration Reminder is another integral part of the Prohibit Feature and is a good internal check for making sure the clinic audiometer is within the manufacturer’s calibration specifications. All Hearing Conservation reports automatically capture these important checks, demonstrating the clinic’s continued compliance with OSHA-mandated standards.

ACCURATE, SIMPLE
          HEARING CONSERVATION
                                   DATA MANAGEMENT

The following features make it easy to input data, validate its accuracy, move it around, and store it:

  • Backup and Restore feature conveniently saves all data to floppy disk
  • User-defined fields allows for complete storage of any data
  • Lookup Lists and Field Defaults reduce typing

INDUSTRY INNOVATOR WITH
“SEAMLESS SOUND SOLUTIONS”
FOR ALL YOUR
HEARING CONSERVATION NEEDS

Once considered the “new kid on the block,” Benson Medical Instruments has now become the established leader with the only seamlessly integrated Hearing Conservation testing system available today. Maybe this is the reason why the U.S. Military continues to choose Benson Medical Instruments as its sole developer and maintainer of occupational audiometry equipment purchased since 1997. Or maybe it’s because Benson Medical Instruments continues to be at the forefront of important audiometry design breakthroughs.

BENSON MEDICAL INSTRUMENTS WAS THE FIRST TO:

  • Deliver an industrial audiometer that seamlessly integrates the ability to test, store all data, and output all reports from one easy-to-use piece of equipment.
  • Create an IntelliTesting™ feature that automatically scans audiograms for test problems, and responds with appropriate solutions.
  • Incorporate seven standard languages, and now we’re up to 12 (in a stand-alone instrument). The CCA-220 Plus audiometer can even accommodate 20 additional factory-installed languages, and has the ability to hold 32 more, easily installed by your audiologist or nurse!
  • Develop a system for ambient noise level compliance that meets ANSI standards for sound level meters. Now you can continuously monitor ambient noise and produce automatic, ongoing Hearing Conservation program compliance for effective “quiet room” testing.
  • Support new OSHA recordable regulations and NHCA/CAOHC baseline revision guidelines.

Most importantly, Benson Medical Instruments was the first to produce a Hearing Conservation testing system that is so comprehensive and integrated it is “seamless” in its application. We’ve brought the art and science of Hearing Conservation testing into the 21st century—where they belong.
